Overview

Sage has established currency quoting rules for Article Processing Charges (APCs) based on the geographic location of corresponding authors.

What currency is the APC?

For tax compliance reasons, the currency of the Article Processing Charges (APCs) is dependent on the geographic location of the corresponding author.

North, Central and South America

The APC is collected by Sage Inc. and is charged in USD.

Africa, Europe, the Middle East

The APC is collected by Sage Ltd. and is charged in GBP.

Asia and Oceania

The APC is collected by Sage Ltd. and is charged in USD.

Unfortunately, the currency of the APC cannot be changed due to compliance reasons.

What exchange rate is used for APCs?

Exchange rates are periodically evaluated by Sage, and prices for APCs are adjusted accordingly. However, live exchange rates cannot be utilized due to system limitations. Sage endeavors to keep the exchange rate as close as possible to the live USD/GBP exchange rate to minimize discrepancies. This ensures that authors are charged a fair and consistent amount for APCs, irrespective of currency fluctuations.
