What is the currency and exchange rate of the APC?

Modified on Wed, 4 Jun at 1:13 PM

The currency of the Article Processing Charge (APC) is dependent on the geographic location of the bill payer.

North, Central and South America: The APC is collected by Sage Inc. and is charged in USD.

Africa, Europe, the Middle East: The
APC is collected by Sage Ltd. and is charged in GBP.

Asia and Oceania:
The APC is collected by Sage Ltd. and is charged in USD.

The currency of the APC cannot be changed due to compliance reasons.

What exchange rate is used for APCs?

Exchange rates are periodically evaluated by Sage, and prices for APCs are adjusted accordingly. However, live exchange rates cannot be utilized due to system limitations. Sage endeavors to keep the exchange rate as close as possible to the live USD/GBP exchange rate to minimize discrepancies. This ensures that authors are charged a fair and consistent amount for APCs, irrespective of currency fluctuations.
