Overview

If you are an author and you wish to check the status of your article, you can log in to the Sage Open Access Portal to check your author dashboard. This dashboard will inform you the status of your article, record all key information, allow you to download your Creative Commons license and APC invoice/receipt (if applicable), and enable you to quickly take action if you have further steps to complete in the portal. 

What stage is my Open Access article at?

1. Go to openaccess.sagepub.com
2. Log on to the Sage Open Access Portal using your registered author details
3. You be taken to your author dashboard. In the dashboard, you will see all articles related to your account listed. They will either be under 'Articles in Progress' or 'Transacted Articles'.
   • If your article is listed under 'Articles in Progress', this is an active article and there are still steps to complete in the portal. Please see below a description of each status:
     • Awaiting your decision about this article's publishing route: This status means we are waiting for you to complete the initial step in the Open Access process, you are either required to choose the Open Access route (if your article is in a Hybrid journal) or we are waiting for you to accept the APC quoted (if your article is in a Gold journal). Please click the blue button to complete the first step and proceed to Creative Common license selection and signing.
       
     • Awaiting bill payer assignment: This status means we are waiting for you to assign a bill payer in the Sage Open Access Portal. For more information, please see How do I nominate a bill payer in the Sage Open Access Portal? Please click the blue button to assign a bill payer. 
       
     • Awaiting for invoice generation: This status means we are waiting for the bill payer to raise an invoice and complete payment in the Sage Open Access Portal. For more information, please see How do I raise an invoice and complete payment in the Sage Open Access Portal? If you have assigned yourself as the bill payer, please click the orange button to continue to the next steps. If you have assigned someone else as the bill payer, they will be contacted to take action. 
     • Payment due by: This status means we are waiting to receive the APC payment, the payment due date will be shown to the payer. If you have assigned yourself as the bill payer, please complete payment via your preferred method, for more information please see What payment methods are accepted by the Sage Open Access Portal? If you have assigned someone else as the bill payer, they will be contacted to take action. 
     • Awaiting open access publishing by Sage: Once the APC payment has been completed, your article will be listed under 'Transacted Articles'. This means that the article workflow is completed in the Sage Open Access Portal and we will proceed to publish your article Open Access.
