Overview

In academic publishing, an affiliation represents the university or institution that an author is associated with or where most of their research discussed in the paper was conducted. Authors can have more than one affiliation due to their collaborations with different institutions.

Which affiliation will be considered for Open Access agreement eligibility if I have more than one?

The primary affiliation you provide in your submission will determine your eligibility for any Open Access agreements. Please note, only the corresponding author's affiliations can deem an article eligible for an agreement.

If the Corresponding Author's primary affiliation is not associated with an Open Access agreement but their secondary affiliation is, please reach out to our team at openaccess@sagepub.com and include:

  • Article ID/Manuscript ID
  • Article Title
  • Journal Title
  • The secondary affiliation
  • The agreement you believe to be eligible for

Our Open Access Customer Service team will investigate and, if eligible, can update your affiliations and apply the agreement terms.

Please note, the Corresponding Author must have declared their secondary affiliation upon submission to be eligible for an Open Access agreement.
