- Once your article is accepted, you will receive an email from Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment inviting you to sign a license. Depending on whether you are publishing in a Gold open access journal or a hybrid journal, the wording in the email will differ.
- The first author to follow the link to Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment. Here, you'll either log in or register an account and select your name from the author list to sign the license on behalf of all authors.
- After logging in, the next step differs depending on whether you are publishing in a Gold open access journal or a hybrid journal:
- Gold open access: You will be asked to select the Creative Commons license type for your article, this determines how others can use, share, and distribute your work. Please refer to What types of licenses are there available in Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment? for more information.
- Hybrid open access: You will be presented with the terms of the exclusive license to publish.
- You will then be asked to select who own the copyright of your Contribution:

- You will then be asked to read and accept the Terms & Agreement, and confirm that you are one of the named authors and authorized to sign on behalf of all co-authors.
- We will then confirm that the license has been signed and the article will be published under the terms of the license and copyright selection. All authors will receive a copy of the signed license via email.
